Happy Tsar Bomba + 1 day!
I missed that yesterday was Tsar Bomba day.
The fact that humanity created 1% of the suns output for 39 nanoseconds is.. scary and interesting at the same time. Now if we could only use something like that for good rather than killing the planet (humans are included under that), we’d be set.
It’s really too bad that the Cold War was about who could have the biggest, baddest weapons arsenal and not which country had the highest standard of living. What a bizarre and wonderful world that would have been.
That concludes today’s science/humanity lesson today, now back to your regularly scheduled quagmire.
As far as I’ve heard, scientists (Soviet and American), that were looking at an explosion, were scared by enormous big time of it. There was a danger, that hydrogen bomb of a rather high power, can start separating water into oxygen and hydrogen. Thus nuclear explosion can take several hours and all water on Earth.
After this explosion, USSR and US have never tested bombs of such power. By the way, in case of war, we didn’t have any bombers or ICBM’s that could deliver Tsar Bomb to it’s destination.
Small question: how many other ‘Tsar’ things do You know in Russia? =)
