Finally figured out wordpress
Oops! Just discovered that wordpress by default has moderation turned on for all comments! I’ve just went through and approved all the real ones (man! blog spam is bad these days!), so if you commented and it never showed up, it should be there now!
Make sure you get an Akismet API key and use Akismet, as well as update the the common spam words from the codex! (A link to the codex is on the options->discussion page in wp-admin.)
Doing both has saved me a fair bit of grief.

Thanks for the tips! i’ve added the word list and activated Akismet, so hopefully that helps.
